Youth Programs

St. Joseph offers a variety of activities throughout the year for the youth of our parish.  It is important to keep the youth enriched in their faith on a daily basis.  Encourage your children to become involved in some of the programs we have to offer.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM (CCD)

Mrs. Dahlke – First Grade

Although the parents are the first educators of their children, the St. Joseph religious education program is designed to provide all children with an awareness of God’s presence in their lives.

St. Joseph’s Religious Education also known as CCD (Confiternity of Christian Doctrine) offers classes for 1st through high school grades.

Students prepare for the sacraments of Penance, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation. Classes are held at our Parish Center on Main St. in Adams from 6:30 to 7:30 PM every Wednesday for grades 1-8 and alternating Wednesdays for 9th and 10th graders preparing for Confirmation.

Registration is in the fall and classes run from late September to the first Wednesday in May.

CCD students at Youth Rally in Wisconsin Rapids

Confirmation is generally celebrated every other year. Penance is celebrated during Lent and First Communion is celebrated in late April.

In summer we offer Vacation Bible School.  This is free and includes a light breakfast, snack and lunch.

We are always looking for teachers and substitute teachers.

St. Joseph is within the Diocese of LaCrosse and we follow the LaCrosse Diocese Guidelines for Safe Environment

CHOIR

The Youth Choir consists of any youth parish members who want to sing or play instruments. They perform on average once or twice a month and practice when members are available.

New choir members are always welcome.  Contact Theresa David if interested.

ALTAR SERVERS

Altar servers are boys and girls who after receiving their First Holy Communion, will assist the priest and carry out functions with proper respect.

The servers duties include, carrying the cross, the processional candles, hold the book for the priest celebrant when he is not at the altar, carry the incense and censer, present the bread, wine and water to the priest during the preparation of the gifts or assist him when he receives the gifts from the people, in the washing of the priests hands, assisting the priest celebrant and deacon as necessary.

Servers should have some training before they take on the task.  Normally there will be 3 servers for each Mass.
We are in need of Mass servers!  If you are interested or have questions, please contact the parish.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY

The Children will gather just before the Liturgy of the Word, to celebrate their own version of the Liturgy in a way that is appropriate for their age level and understanding.  The purpose of the program is to introduce children in Grades K-3rd to the important aspects of God’s message.

The Children’s liturgy is held during the 10:00 A.M. Mass.  All children grades K-3rd are welcome to attend.
For more information, please contact Theresa David at tddavid@maqs.net
